Support the Future of GIS
Although I am in the midst of raising funds to attend the SkillsUSA Geospatial Technology Competition, I am looking for support in a more important way. It is a shame that it took me being in the GIS industry 2 1/2 years while attending a geospatial technology college program before I heard anything about the competition. I now wonder what other opportunities are out there? I was really excited when I heard about it and I think there are others who would participate as well if they only knew. It may be too late to get in on this year, but they can prepare now for the next chance.
From the time I considered the competition, I knew that I would blog about it. I have made it my goal to blog my way through this competition. This is not just about me and my competition; this is about the next generation of GIS users and the opportunity to showcase their skills. These people need the support and mentoring of experienced GIS professionals. I am looking for people to support me and them by following my RSS feed to learn about this competition and what goes into it. This is an open door for others to see what all is going on beyond professional conferences and the work at their desks. Those represented are freshly educated and passionate about GIS. These young folk are showing how important GIS is to them by traveling from all across the country to show off their skills. Please stand behind us to show how important GIS is to you.
I have set a target of 100 RSS feed followers. I know a lot of people already follow me on Twitter, but RSS is my choice for measuring this goal. I understand that this goal may be big, but I have learned that if you aim for nothing then you’ll hit nothing. Please take the time to add this RSS feed to your feed reader now. Learn about the future of GIS and take the opportunity to share in this amazing industry in which we all are apart of.
Thank you!
