Well after several emails with both Digital Quest and NC SkillsUSA, I have a final answer to the registration cost for the SkillsUSA Geospatial Competition.  The SkillsUSA Championships’ Program Director has come to my rescue.  As stated directly from their clarification email:

Because the Geospatial Technology competition is for college only and is open to non-SkillsUSA members, we have a different set of guidelines.  First, they must pay the state and national membership fees and become a member.  National dues are $8.00 and NC dues are $6.00.  Both these fees come to the national office, and we pay the state.  Next, they must make their own travel and hotel arrangements. They must pay the national registration fee of $115 to compete. They are not required to travel with their state delegation because they are only attending Monday through noon on Wednesday. If they prefer to travel with the state, they must have the state association directors’ approval and are subject to any state fees.

So with all of this said, my registration cost comes to $129 ($115 - Competition & $14 for Membership).  At least I have enough to cover this thanks to a few supporters.  I still have some work to do in order to pay for my travel.  It will all come together though.
